Так вот, Трамп на этой пресс-конференции совершил чудовищный шаг: он признал этот путинский язык. "Могу говорить с Путиным на его языке".

Это крайне разрушительный шаг, потому что он позволит говорить на этом же языке огромной среде людей, которых называют путинферштейерами ("понимателями Путина" — в переводе с немецкого) по Европе и по всему миру. Раньше, когда они так говорили, их слова подвергались осмеянию или хотя бы критическому анализу (подчеркивалось, что эти высказывания противоречат нормам демократии и всей политической традиции Запада). Теперь — после выступления Трампа — этот язык легитимизируется", - считает политолог, сообщает Newsader.

It strongly reinforced the idea that Putin’s got something on you. And it’s the first time your party turned against you even a little.” Then, he sang, “So, let’s collude it again, like we did last summer.”

When Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats learned about the invitation while on stage at the Aspen Security Forum, his reaction was not all that different from Colbert’s. “Say that again?” he asked MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“Now, Mr. President, you just found the strength to admit that Putin is personally responsible for attacking our election,” Colbert said. “So let’s invite him to the White House.” Imitating Trump, he added, “I want Putin for a sushi dinner, Cosby for the slumber party, Harvey Weinstein for movie night, and security will be handled by MS-13. Make it happen.”

Donald Trump did more than collude with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki. He worked with the Kremlin leader to destroy the three settlements of the 20th century that the United States took the lead in arranging, settlements whose destruction leaves the world and its peoples in a far more dangerous place than it has ever been before.

In the spring of 2014, the current author warned about what was at stake for the US in Putin’s Anschluss of Ukraine in the hopes that the United States would recognize that that Russian action would quickly be recognized as “a new 911 for the US” and the West. Unfortunately, just the reverse has happened.

Below is the text of that article which appeared in The Ambassadors Review. I can only add that at the time, I could not believe that we would sink so low and that future historians will be forced to decide that the real spelling of Helsinki is M-U-N-I-C-H.
